Republic of Congo in 2025. From the beginning of the year to
mid-March, a total of 12 074 cases and 199 deaths have been recorded
in health facilities across more than 27 health zones affected by the
disease, with a case fatality rate of 1.60%.Eleven of the country’s 26 provinces are officially experiencing an
outbreak, according to the Ministry of Health. Haut-Katanga Province
remains the most affected, with over 11 health zones impacted. It is
followed by the Tanganyika and Équateur provinces, each with 3
affected health zones.Nord-Ubangi Province is the most severely impacted in terms of
fatality, with a case fatality rate of 7.32%, followed by Tshopo,
Équateur, and Tanganyika.Since August 2010, the Democratic Republic of Congo has been facing
recurrent measles outbreaks in nearly all its provinces. Among the key
challenges in eliminating measles outbreaks are the mobilization of
resources for targeted outbreak response, and the strengthening of the
National Reference Laboratory’s capacity (including training providers
on genotyping and supplying laboratory consumables).
