COVID-19 has consistently without interruption evaded vaccination for 5 years. I haven’t seen a death certificate in three years or equivalent case-based surveillance report for 2 years. Any non-molecular virus expert who explains this microbe to you today is guessing.
Consider this anecdote. My family has been vaccinated and reinfected religiously for 4 years and it infected every member of my household. We still test and mask religiously too, COVID-19 is basically indifferent to us right now and perfecting its infectivity. Eventually, we will have no clue in time when, it will transition from transmissibility to pathogenicity and it will produce 2 million US casualties in a year.
We need to stop pretending we understand COVID-19 when in reality we understand far less today than we ever have before and there is basically— don’t quote me here—a bazillion more evolving SARS-CoV-2 potential variants circulating amongst us now.
