Micronesia (Federated States of) 🇫🇲 🗺

Micronesia, officially known as the Federated States of Micronesia, is a small island nation located in the western Pacific Ocean. It is made up of four major island groups: Pohnpei, Chuuk, Yap, and Kosrae.

Despite its small size, Micronesia is a place of incredible natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Its crystal clear waters boast some of the world’s most diverse marine life, including more than 1,000 species of fish and over 250 species of coral. Visitors can explore the stunning blue lagoons and lush rainforests of the islands, or sample the local cuisine, which features fresh seafood and tropical fruits.

As a tropical island nation, Micronesia is also vulnerable to the impact of climate change. Rising sea levels, stronger storms, and increased ocean acidification threaten the delicate balance of the island ecosystems, and put the livelihoods and traditions of the island peoples at risk.

Despite these challenges, Micronesia and its people are resilient and determined. The Federated States of Micronesia has been a leader in advocating for global action on climate change, and its strong cultural heritage continues to inspire and connect people around the world.

Visitors to Micronesia have the opportunity to not only explore its natural beauty and rich culture, but also to learn from its people and support their efforts to protect their home and way of life.
