This is the first time that H5N3 type highly pathogenic AI has been
confirmed in Korea.

The Central Disease Control Headquarters explained that H5N3 type AI
is believed to have been created by recombining H5 type highly
pathogenic AI virus and N3 type AI virus derived from wild birds that
are prevalent worldwide. In order to thoroughly observe quarantine
rules, such as disinfection of entry and exit for poultry farm
workers, and to minimize damage, poultry farm workers asked the
quarantine authorities to report [even] mild symptoms in poultry.
