Since the beginning of this year [2024], a total of 40 485 cases (6310
confirmed; 34 175 suspected) and 890 deaths (CFR: 2.2%) of cholera
were reported from 15 AU MS [African Union member states]: Burundi (58
cases; 0 deaths), Cameroon (138; 27), Comoros (110; 6), Democratic
Republic of Congo (DRC) (4504; 114), Ethiopia (1625; 14), Kenya (165;
0), Malawi (166; 3), Mozambique (3555; 7), Nigeria (169; 2), Somalia
(2567; 23), South Africa (2; 0), Tanzania (869; 3), Uganda (14; 0),
Zambia (16 400; 554) and Zimbabwe (10 143; 137).
This week, 4627 new cases and 86 new deaths of cholera were reported
from 12 AU MS: Burundi, Comoros, DRC, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi,
Mozambique, Nigeria, Somalia, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
