PRO/EDR> Influenza – Saudi Arabia: seasonal, MOH update

• Influenza Cases in Saudi Arabia: As of January 22, 2025, there are 84 hospitalized cases in intensive care units and 31 influenza-related deaths.
• Vaccination Impact: The Ministry of Health attributes the significant reduction in deaths to increased public awareness and vaccination efforts, particularly among vulnerable populations.
• Vaccination Recommendation: Vaccination remains the primary means of preventing serious complications, and the influenza season is not yet over.
• Influenza Transmission: Primarily spread through droplet infection, with spaces favoring community spread.
• Influenza Impact: While most infections are mild, complications can occur in vulnerable groups, leading to intensive care unit admissions.
