In a press communique to Le360, the director of epidemiology and
disease control, MOH Morocco, revealed that the country is witnessing
what could be an outbreak of measles by recording 25 000 cases of
measles in the period September 2023 to January 2025, while the annual
cases before that used not to exceed 4 to 5 cases per annum. He noted
that the current spread of measles is unusual. He attributed this rise
to the lowering of measles vaccine coverage in the previous years due
to the rising anti-vaccine campaigns and other factors in comparison
to more than 95% measles vaccination coverage rate in the past.
