Local authorities in Nyirol County, Jonglei State, have recently
registered more than 1000 cholera cases with at least 80 deaths in 5
days. The county commissioner has said that more sick people were
treated under the trees because there are no hospital wards available
to treat people. There are also severe medical supply shortages, and
the provincial director of health said the situation is deteriorating
rapidly and appealed for prompt intervention.
