According to PRO/AH/EDR> Avian influenza (114): Europe (Poland) cat, HPAI H5N1, cl 2.3.4.4b, epidemiology report from 2023, HPAI H5N1 was also circulating in European cats. This is significant because humans and cats share about 90% of their genes, and many of those conserved genes are directly responsible for the phenotypic disease response, or “cytokine storms” that makes novel influenza infections so deadly. Then today NYT reports in 2025 a subsequent HPAI H5N1 variant has transmitted from cats to humans, which is not good news especially since the US President who caused the last Pandemic is now ordering CDC to hide critical surveillance information. #charliefoxtrot
