Avian influenza, human – USA (06): (NV) genotype D1.1

A dairy worker in Nevada has been confirmed to have H5N1 avian flu, marking the first human case from the D1.1 genotype. The worker, who experienced conjunctivitis, is recovering, and close contacts are being monitored. While the risk to the general public remains low, the CDC continues to emphasize the importance of precautions for those with occupational exposure to infected animals.
