The SWOT program (Surface Water and Ocean Topography) at NASA aims to improve our understanding of Earth’s water cycle by measuring the height of water on Earth’s surface, including oceans, rivers, and lakes. This information is essential for predicting natural disasters such as floods and droughts, as well as for better managing our water resources. The SWOT mission launched in 2022 and is completing calibration phase to soon provide global coverage of surface water, providing invaluable data for scientists and decision-makers alike.
