I call this series..in one drop of wild water.

Please note when viewing this series of images of live compound microscopy that what you see in this first round is mostly for effect while we develop our see legs.

A few baseline bullets for the reader to ponder:

  • I’m about to drop a lot of non disputed science here. Basic biology. If you do not believe in science please don’t waste our time with this blog post. It’s okay. We’re still friends, but if you explore all to follow and think naw that’s not right, let’s just have a political religious debate, this ain’t your forum.
    • I scientist am a believer because I believe. I don’t need science to believe in God, I need faith.
    • My faith is why I follow my conscience, which is not the how science this blog post is about.
  • The science of microbiology. Let’s ponder this alone here.
  • However, this leads to the first challenge. Science is rarely intuitive. You can’t just do it correctly without embracing at least a few realities.
  • 1. Raw curiosity is always useful but will only get us so far, eventually we must turn over our will and learn a proper technique and practice that technique and then test it ourselves and document what succeeds and fails. Then do it again, learning from our previous mistakes, adhering more closely to the scientific path the ancestors left us.
    • Take my microscopy above. I think every image is interesting and even visually captivating but none of this images correctly adhere to a real scientific experiment. They were prepared haphazardly using the tools of science and real world biological data.
    • However they are interesting, and artistically stimulating, and they do convey one fact that we need to accept before doing the science again correctly.
    • We need to know that everything we think we know about the world at the microscopic scale is likely wrong or at best really fuzzy and if we want to cure this ignorance we need to learn and master the science of microbiology before submerging into the slide.
    • Speaking of which, I need to get back to work…
