There is always a chance I could be wrong about my doomsday prognostications about the coming endless loop of climate catastrophe. If I’m not though it’s going to play out like my current struggle as a farmer against parasites and potentially Johne’s disease.
Let me back up. Two months ago I made a bad decision, like say voting for Trump right now given the perils we face if not strengthening our response to the climate emergency.
In my case, I put my desire to expand my goat and sheep herds without having enough money or good breeder contacts to do so before what goat experts told me was an invitation to introduce new animals that deplete the refugia I had built up for my current livestock herd. I instead said my instinct, luck, and good wishes would protect us.
I made the wrong decisions, yes the TEH exposed his herds to the animals with treatment resistant parasites and potentially even 🦠 MAP/Johne’s and now I am facing a negative feedback loop of Climate Emergency proportions in our Sherwood Forest 🌳.
What are the consequences? Drawn out death of my entire herd for one. Endless tears and hand excavated graves. Poisoning that cuts across variation and heredity and selects for exposure to land with treatment resistant bacteria and infinite cycles of indefatigable blood sucking parasites. Followed by the end of my sustainable agricultural dreams. Descending ever more into expensive interventions and vet visits, and lost economic fruits from my strenuous labor of love towards enterprise that dies on the vine.
All of which, my plight, is what the Climate Emergency beyond the irreversible tipping points of Science will become. The Earth will become inhabitable right before us and our generational ambitions along with.
Take it from TEH. One bad decision can produce an exacerbated tragic defeat when the stakes are held to account by the immutable thermodynamic and evolutionary laws of nature.
