South Korea has confirmed the season’s second case of highly
pathogenic avian influenza (AI) at a poultry farm, the North
Chungcheong provincial government said Friday [8 Nov 2024]. The
announcement came after the agricultural ministry identified a
suspected case the previous day at the duck farm in Eumseong, 94 km
(58 mi) south of Seoul.
The latest case follows South Korea’s confirmation of the season’s
first highly pathogenic AI case last week. Agricultural authorities
issued a standstill order on all duck farms across the country on
Thursday [7 Nov 2024], effective until 11 p.m. Friday [8 Nov 2024].
