A 32-year-old’s death was confirmed on Monday [7 Oct 2024] by the
health department of Jaipur [capital city of Rajasthan state]. This is
the second dengue-related death recorded in Rajasthan. The victim was
identified as a doctor, an anesthesia specialist who was posted at a
community health centre in Dausa [district in Rajasthan state]. The
victim was admitted to a private hospital in the city. According to
reports from the health official, her platelet count had dropped
dangerously low, touching 10 000 per microlitre.
Health department sources say that she was suffering from dengue for
nearly 10 days, after which she succumbed to the infection.
As per reports, between 2 Oct and 7 Oct 2024, as many as 1108 cases
have been recorded in the state. In Jaipur city, at least 251 people
have been reported as positive.
According to reports, most of the hospital beds are occupied by an
overwhelming number of seasonal diseases and dengue. Most of the cases
belong to scrub typhus, dengue, and viral infections.
Doctors advise people to seek treatments and tests at the right time
to avoid complications in all the cases, especially dengue fever.
