Informed sources revealed that the health services of the state of
Batna recently recorded 11 confirmed cases of West Nile fever with
several other suspected cases awaiting the results of the Pasteur
Institute tests.
The ages of those infected with this disease or suspected cases varied
between children, adults, women, and both sexes. Among them are cases
still in hospitals receiving the necessary treatment.
While health sources confirmed to Al-Nahar that the situation was
under control, it became necessary for the concerned authorities to
expedite swamp spraying operations. Sites of stagnant water at this
particular time are known to breed mosquitoes.
