  Influenza and RSV shaped the 2024–25 respiratory season, with record RSV infant hospitalizations and 270 pediatric flu deaths in the U.S. Novel COVID-19 variants (NB.1.8.1, XFG) spread globally but did not increase severity. Other ARDS drivers—hMPV, adenovirus, parainfluenza—added to the global burden.
