Sickle Cell Disease is an extremely rare condition that is decreases precipitously outside of Malarial zones. Yes it expensive to treat. That is not a Public Health priority in the US. Let the fight for affordability in healthcare stay in healthcare. Public Health should be the gold standard lab for preventing communicable disease.
