Have you ever watched a starving crowd and thought never here—just wait. Have you ever organized as a community to sweep your neighborhood for dead neighbors in a Pandemic—just wait. Have you ever stood in line to vote only to be told your color isn’t counted this election—just wait. Have you experienced bread lines and truth and reconciliation tribunals —just wait. Has your crop desiccated on the vine or your well water killed a cousin —just wait.
Is your house underwater. Is the air too hot to breathe. Is employment just patronage for decrepit old white men. WHO counts? Do your own governments maps cheat you out of your representation.
Can you file a claim and not get swindled. Can you lift up your head and not receive a blow.
Just wait I tell myself each morning, today we take back our Democracy.
