Toggenburg 😔

If you have ever had a dream where you were hiking through the Swiss Alps as goats and milk maids frolicked around you then no doubt the breed was Togg. You know that Swiss chocolate and cheese that makes life beautiful.

Like most things, the Togg’s migration to the United States has been unhealthy and geared towards the conversion of animal into money.

When I find a breeder of Toggs and inquire if any are for sale, they just look at me laugh. This kind of bottle necking of animals is a problem in a cottage industry like ours.

Alas it appears marketing and self imposed wounds of scarcity is yet again the enemy of quality. Thus when people talk about Toggs they linger on the margins of their award winning utters or the fancy troughs of hair. I personally have seen their intelligence and sweet demeanor.

However I have also noticed that just as Boers are overly serious and confident about their brawny nature, or in Toggs all the immaculate things people have written about them over the years. In truth I have never meet a Togg that couldn’t benefit from a stint on a Nubian farm.
